Thank you for attending the New Westminster Transportation Jane’s Walk!

We hope you had fun! Here are some things discussed during the walk:

What is Vision Zero?

Vision Zero is a global movement with a goal to have zero people killed or severely injured on our roads. Every year in Metro Vancouver, about 100 people are killed and 2,000 severely injured. Deaths disproportionally affect more vulnerable road users, including pedestrians, cyclists, and seniors.

Here is a map of all ICBC-reported vehicle collisions in New Westminster between 2020-2024:

Vision Zero Vancouver is a grassroots advocacy group with a focus on the Lower Mainland. We currently have one full-time staff person (Margie!) who has been with us since day one. We rely on individual donors to keep us going. Even a small monthly donation goes a long way.

Want to get involved in other ways? We are always looking for more volunteers and have lots of opportunities for all skillsets and time commitments!

And please make sure to subscribe to our mailing list! We promise to never spam you and only send (occasional) timely updates and advocacy opportunities.

A few more things discussed in the walk:

  • Uytae Lee’s video on why kids don’t walk to school anymore:
  • Are cars getting too large? We infiltrated the Vancouver Auto Show to talk to automakers about the size and practicality of today’s vehicles:
  • Finally, please be sure to fill in the Jane’s Walk survey! This helps them get more funding for future years and improve the experience for everyone.

Thank you again for attending!
